Govindam Students Attended Conference on Managing India By Finance Minister Mr. Pranab Mukherjee

The Finance Minister, MrPranab Mukherjee, and the All-India
Management Association President, MrSanjivGoenka, during
an interactive meeting on ‘Managing India,' in New Delhi on
Monday, 15th March 2010.
A summary of the report submitted by the students based on their learning on “Managing India” by Mr. Pranab Mukherjee, The Finance Minister of INDIA :
The Finance Minister said that he will strive to address all the stakeholders' concerns on the proposed Direct Taxes Code.
The main concerns for India Inc. include proposed levy of minimum alternative tax on gross assets basis and introduction of exempt-exempt-taxable system of taxation for savings.
Mr. Mukherjee expressed confidence that the Indian economy will register 9 per cent growth rate in 2011-12, on the back of better private investments.
The country will aim for double-digit growth in the coming years.
He however added that the country may have to deal with a scenario of high inflation for some more time.
Inflationary pressure on food items will continue for some more time.
International trade sector has started improving and was visible in industrial growth, which has touched a healthy figure of 9.6% during the first ten months of this fiscal against 3.31% during corresponding period last fiscal.
Noting that major economies have started coming out of recessionary trend, Mr. PranabMukherjee said that the situation at the global level had improved more than expected because of governments' intervention and recent data suggest that rate of decline in economic activity was moderating.
Global trade had become a catalyst for the country's growth.
India's external trade has brightened in 2010 with prospects of recovery in the economies and trade.
